So I was over at Jamie’s blog, C.R.A.F.T., a couple of weeks ago, and started reading a post about how she aspires to be a full-time blogger. Which is my dream as well, so naturally I was intrigued. She was keeping track of her business expenses and organizing her receipt mess with a Neat Desk she had received. It looked pretty cool so I kept reading.
At the end the was a little contest box, you know where you can enter to win your own. I almost didn’t enter, I NEVER enter contests. But I said what the hell and entered my info and forgot about it.
About a week later I’m doing my weekly Twitter check. Yeah I only check it once a week, I know it’s terrible. For some reason I decided to check my interactions, which I never do, I know terrible also. There it was! A 4 day old tweet from Jamie telling me I had won.
That week it just so happens I had decided to take an email vacay. When I look there’s an email from Jamie again telling me I won and that she had been trying to reach me. And if I didn’t respond she would have to choose another winner. Oops.
I got so lucky on both accounts. I couldn’t belive I had actually won, almost lost and then won again.
I guess it was fate, this puppy was made for me. Now that I’ve started my Etsy shop (twowhiteowls), I’m trying to keep track of all the supplies I’m buying to make my items. I have an extremely complicated and precise filing system (you may want to take notes in case you want to adopt it):
-Keep your receipts in the original store bag where the product is
-Once you remove the items from the bag lay the receipt on the nearest table
-Find the receipt a few weeks later and think oh I should keep that
-Proceed to place the receipt in one of the designated piles around the house
Easy as pie. But not very effective!
I opened up my prize, gathered up all my receipts, scanned them and presto I was done, no more receipt mess. Everything appears nice and organized on the screen. I can even export the info to Quicken, which is really cool.
I’m loving my Neat Desk. Thanks Jamie!

YAY!!! I’m so happy you LOVE your NeatDesk too! It’s a miracle machine!
Yes!!! The best part is all my nasty little paper piles are gone!
