Blog Merge
I’ve been on the fence for months whether or not to do it. I even posted about here when I was changing the blog design. I just couldn’t keep up anymore, as visitors to SGL could probably tell by the lack of posts. Having two Twitter, Pinterest, email accounts and a Facebook page that had cobwebs on it was just too much. Logging in to all that was insane.
Even though SGL was older, I consider this my main blog. So the move over here just seemed more logical. The main reason I hadn’t made the change was because I had no idea how to even do it. That is until I found this post How to Merge or Combine Multiple WordPress Blogs.
The transfer itself was insanely easy. The hardest part of it was figuring how to use Filezilla to transfer the ‘upload’ files, which wasn’t covered in the post. I called my hosting company for that part.
I merged my two twitter accounts. I used this tutorial to do it How to Merge two Twitter Accounts. Since I had more followers on SGL’s twitter account, I decide to keep that one and just renamed it @smallhomelove.
I also did a quick redesign which matches the new blog design better using Colour Lovers Themeleon. It’s really easy to use and you can even change the colors of the background pattern.
I found a way to copy the list of my followers from the old account (which I’ll be deleting) so I can easily refollow them with the new account (the one I’m keeping). I’m using Just Unfollow. You just add both twitter accounts. Using the new account click on a tab at the top that says copy followers and that section will be added below. Put in the name of the old account and it will pull up all the people who are following that account. Then you can just follow them one by one. The free version only lets you follow 50 people per day. So depending on how many followers you have, it could take a while.

Small Garden Loves’s Facebook page got a major overhaul. I renamed it Small Home {& Garden} Love. I also changed to profile and cover photos. For time’s sake I just reused the same blog header photo that I have on SHL, but I’ll be changing it soon.

Etsy shop tab:
Customers can now see and purchase items from Two White Owls right on FB. I used Etsy Theme Shop to do it.
Pinterest pins tab:
I love this one! You can see all my boards and pins on FB. I did it through Woodbox.
Twitter Tab:
I also used Woodbox to add a twitter tab where you can see my twitter feed.
Blog posts:
A feed of my posts can be seen through the Blog tab. Did it through Networked Blogs.
I love the new Facebook page and am definitely going to be more active there.
I haven’t found a way to join my pinterest accounts yet, if there even is a way. So for now I’ll keep the two and slowly refollow my SGL followers over on the SHL account.
That’s about it. I’m still tweaking things here and there but the hard part is over, phew.
