Getting Rid of the Orange

orange tea light holdersI had an orange period of sorts a while back, I never fully incorporated it for fear of it overshadowing the other colors in our living. I just bought some orange accesories and recieved some as gifts when friends realized that I had a orange theme going.

I also made a couple of orange throw pillows for the couch with some Ikea fabric that I love. I still love those pillows, so somehow I will have to incorpotae them into the new orangeless decor.

I have recently fallen back in love with yellow, we had a short love affair a while back but had fallen out of love. But now we’re back. And keeping with my new year’s I am going to repurse everything that’s orange, some things will become yellow and some white. Since we have a lot of dark browns and grays I wanted to brighten things up a bit with a nice cheeful color.

This is my inspiration, I absolutely love this fabric!!

We also have a lighting problem. We have a huge sliding 12′ door in the living room, yet barely get any light. The problem is the back terrace is covered by a small roof and the slider is west facing. So unless it’s super sunny, we get terrible light. To make matters worse we only have two lamps in the living room and one in the dining area. So in order to take these pictures I had to turn the lights on and remove the lampshades to get a little better lighting.

We eventually want to remove the popcorn ceiling throughout so that will be my chance to get some ceiling lighting in here. Can’t wait!

  1. Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their posts.
