Making your own DIY outdoor rug isn’t as difficult as it may seem. You may ask “can you paint an outdoor rug?” and the answer is, of course you can.

The people at Curbly easily created this pretty blue and tan rug using a plain store-bought rug, some tape and acrylic paint. They have a wonderful tutorial for creating the rug shown below, you can find it here.

For some inspiration, I added a few examples of indoor and outdoor rug designs that could easily be adapted for the outdoors with just a little paint and ingenuity.

I love how this rug brings the look of this outdoor room together, it wouldn’t look quite as nice without it.
