Crazy ’bout Tree Stumps

I was researching (ok wasting time online) diy tree trunk tables for an upcoming post on small garden love Get This Look {For Less}: Rustic Outdoor Room. Sorry for the shameless plug, lol. But anyway, I came across some great projects to make with tree trunks too beautiful not to share.

Man, I’m dying to get my hands on one of these again. I say again because the last time I saw a great assortment of freshly cut tree trunks ripe for the taking my dream  was crushed. My hubby was with me when I spotted the fallen cut up tree in the middle of a public park. And when I suggested we take some of the pieces home he stared at me with a blank look and said jokingly, “that’s gotta weigh at least 300 pounds and there’s no way we can lug this across the park to the car. Plus I’m pretty sure they’ll throw us out of the park if they catch us.” Ok, so much for that. So I still keep a lookout everywhere I go, cause this time it’s not going to slip through my fingers.

Until then I can only dream…

This one’s a work of art, no really it is art. These amazing pieces are created by functional artist  Nicole Belanger of Nickadoo Tree Trunk Tables.

Isn’t this just perfect? I love the blend of rustic with glam and the mix of textures, moss and all. Learn how to create this cute tree trunk side table over at the Nesting Place.

I spotted a faux wood silver timber end table a while back at ZGallerie and fell in love. That was though, until I saw this one below made by House of Movi. I’m not sure I’d have the patience for all that silver leafing (tried it once, not a fan) but I do love how it turned out.

Well for now I’ll jut have to stick with my Tarjay wood side tables. I actually got these at a steal a while back while browsing the furniture clearance section. Tip: Always browse the clearance section! They were $18 each down from $80. Of course I had to go two other Target stores to find the other one, but it was worth it.

The best part of the story is that a few weeks later I saw them back at their regular price. I don’t know if it was a fluke or mistake on their part, but all I know is that I’m glad I got them.

Update: I finally got my tree stump, check it out here.
