I’ve been taking an online course called Blogging Your Way by Holly Becker from Decor8blog for the past few weeks.  I have to say its been wonderful so far and I’ve learned so much. Best of all it has inspired me overall to build a better blog.

These are the changes that are in the works:

#1 What About Me??!!

I recently overhauled my sidebar photo and About page. It’s a little more fun and shows you a more of my personality. I’m still working on the photos..

#2 Two Blogs In One

Another key announcement is that I’m going to be combining Small Garden Love (my first blog) and Small Home Love. I realized that I just don’t have the time for so many blogs and I want to concentrate more on this one.

The good thing is that both subjects (home and garden) fit together, so it won’t be awkward to write about them both in one place. I’m not shutting SGL down, it will stay up, I’ll just be writing about my garden related projects and ideas over here from now on. I will still post at SGL from time to time but not as often as I used to.

#3 SHL Is Going Under The Knife

Small Home love is getting an overall facelift; new blog design, new sidebar banners, new theme and little general tweaks. I’m doing all this stuff myself, so if you see things moving around and looking strange, it’s just me making changes on the back-end.

#4 New Posting Schedule

Now that I wont be blogging at SGL, I’ll have more free time to create more projects and post here more often. My old schedule, which was erratic at best, was supposed to be Tuesday and Thursday. Now I’m going to be posting regularly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I’ll throw in some extra posts on the other days every once in a while.

#5 Photo Finish

I’m also trying to work on my photography skills. I have no problem taking beautiful outdoor landscape photos, but I just plain suck at indoor photography. So I’m experimenting with styling my photos better, lighting (my arch nemesis) and editing. I just discovered how to set the white balance on the camera (hey we all start somewhere), so that should help immensely.

I also joined Instagram last week, so I’ll be posting a little more of my life on here.

I’m aiming for July 1st for all these changes to be done. Wish me luck!
